考虑到时代的变迁，设计方案仔细研究了历史上卓越的建筑与设计，将那些能够经受时间考验的、原始质朴的元素重新展现出来。尽管住宅的大部分都是新建的空间，却不会立刻就被辨识出来。

设计对现有住宅前半部分的旧式细节进行了改造，包括弧线形的飞檐，拱门以及定制的钢制壁炉，这些虽然不是典型的现代设计元素，却与维多利亚时代的立面搭配得十分和谐。细节的完整性通过精湛的手工艺得到了充分展现，即便是像榫接构件这样的小细节也值得花时间玩味。
